The crown is usually well shaped, and the golden effect is especially successful when the tree is placed against a darker background (hedges, conifers, woodland edges). Like many yellow-leaved plants, an overly scorching exposure can cause stress (marked foliage): bright but not excessive light is often ideal.

Colours

Spring : bright yellow to golden at budbreak, very luminous.

Summer : shifts toward yellow-green, then greener depending on exposure and vigor.

Autumn : often yellow then coppery (variable with climate).

Habit & vigour

Small tree to medium tree habit, often described as low-branched with a crown that is rather rounded to spreading.
