The name refers to the Esk Valley region around the Esk River.<\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>\u2018Esk Sunset\u2019 is a rare sycamore maple grown for its constantly shifting variegated foliage and its purple leaf undersides. At budbreak, the variegation can be quite subtle: new leaves often emerge orange-pink \/ bronze, then the cream (and pink) marbling becomes clearer and stronger as the leaves expand. As the season progresses, the foliage turns deeper green, splashed and marbled with cream (often with lingering pink\/tan tones), while the undersides develop a rich purple to reddish-purple.
