In hot climates, protection from harsh afternoon sun helps limit dehydration of the fine foliage.<\/p>\n<h3 data-start=\"2472\" data-end=\"2494\">Origin &amp; history<\/h3>\n<p data-start=\"2496\" data-end=\"2908\">\u2018Monroe\u2019 is a very finely cut-leaf selection of Acer circinatum native to northwestern North America. The references consulted indicate it was discovered in the wild in Oregon (Cascade Mountains) by Warner Monroe and introduced into cultivation around 1965.
