Character & interest<\/h3>\n

\u2018Vitifolium\u2019 is a great classic among \u201cfull moon maples\u201d for two reasons:<\/p>\n

    the texture and volume of its leaves\u2014broad and graphic,<\/p>\n<\/li>\n

    a very readable and often spectacular autumn colour, with warm and deep tones.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    It is particularly suitable if you want a Japanese maple that really has presence in the garden, without requiring complicated pruning.<\/p>\n

      Habit & vigour<\/h3>\n

      Bushy habit at first, then a small tree with a strong framework, often multi-stemmed. Good vigour: it establishes well in the ground and, over time, forms a broad, well-balanced crown.<\/p>\n

        Exposure<\/h3>\n

        Bright partial shade or gentle sun. A sheltered position (dry winds, scorching afternoon sun) limits leaf scorch and helps maintain good summer foliage.<\/p>\n

        Origin & history<\/h3>\n

        The name \u2018Vitifolium\u2019 literally means \u201cwith vine leaves\u201d, referring to the leaf shape (large, rounded, shallow lobes).
