Unlike many palmatum cultivars, it often has a more \u201cshrub\/small tree\u201d presence, with a broad, rounded crown and thicker foliage that gives it excellent volume.<\/p>\n<h3 data-start=\"1206\" data-end=\"1218\">Colours<\/h3>\n<ul data-start=\"1220\" data-end=\"1500\">\n<li data-start=\"1220\" data-end=\"1282\">\n<p data-start=\"1222\" data-end=\"1282\"><strong>Spring<\/strong> : light green (bright, luminous young leaves).<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"1283\" data-end=\"1310\">\n<p data-start=\"1285\" data-end=\"1310\"><strong>Summer<\/strong> : dark green.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"1311\" data-end=\"1500\">\n<p data-start=\"1313\" data-end=\"1500\"><strong>Autumn<\/strong> : a strongly marked warm palette, most often crimson to vermilion red, with orange transitions (\u201cfiery orange\u201d) depending on exposure and cool nights.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3 data-start=\"1502\" data-end=\"1520\">Habit &amp; vigour<\/h3>\n<p data-start=\"1522\" data-end=\"1765\">Bushy then rounded (dome-shaped) habit, sturdy branches, well-balanced silhouette. Moderate vigour: it establishes well in the ground and responds very well to careful cultivation (soil kept cool, mulching, regular watering in summer).<\/p>\n<h3 data-start=\"1767\" data-end=\"1793\">Indicative size<\/h3>\n<p data-start=\"1795\" data-end=\"1851\">Observed orders of magnitude depending on sources and training:<\/p>\n<ul data-start=\"1853\" data-end=\"2101\">\n<li data-start=\"1853\" data-end=\"1937\">\n<p data-start=\"1855\" data-end=\"1937\">around 2.5 m at 10 years is a common figure in nurseries\/collections,<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"1938\" data-end=\"1986\">\n<p data-start=\"1940\" data-end=\"1986\">often 4 to 5 m at maturity in a garden,<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"1987\" data-end=\"2101\">\n<p data-start=\"1989\" data-end=\"2101\">can grow higher with age and excellent conditions (some references mention up to ~7\u20138 m).<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3 data-start=\"2103\" data-end=\"2117\">Exposure<\/h3>\n<p data-start=\"2119\" data-end=\"2414\">Bright partial shade or gentle sun.
