It is also very interesting for its often yellow autumn colour, which stands out from the classic reds. It is an excellent variety to create contrast next to a purple dissectum.<\/p>\n<h3 data-start=\"1218\" data-end=\"1230\">Colours<\/h3>\n<ul data-start=\"1232\" data-end=\"1430\">\n<li data-start=\"1232\" data-end=\"1304\">\n<p data-start=\"1234\" data-end=\"1304\"><strong>Spring<\/strong> : light green (sometimes \u201ccreamy green\u201d at budbreak).<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"1305\" data-end=\"1348\">\n<p data-start=\"1307\" data-end=\"1348\"><strong>Summer<\/strong> : fresh green to emerald green.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"1349\" data-end=\"1430\">\n<p data-start=\"1351\" data-end=\"1430\"><strong>Autumn<\/strong> : golden yellow to deep yellow (sometimes nuanced depending on conditions).<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3 data-start=\"1432\" data-end=\"1450\">Habit &amp; vigour<\/h3>\n<p data-start=\"1452\" data-end=\"1651\">Low, spreading and weeping habit, forming a \u201cmushroom\u201d dome with arching branches. Vigour is generally moderate: the plant spreads nicely without becoming invasive, especially in a pot.<\/p>\n<h3 data-start=\"1653\" data-end=\"1679\">Indicative size<\/h3>\n<p data-start=\"1681\" data-end=\"1737\">Observed orders of magnitude depending on sources and training:<\/p>\n<ul data-start=\"1739\" data-end=\"1940\">\n<li data-start=\"1739\" data-end=\"1818\">\n<p data-start=\"1741\" data-end=\"1818\">often around 1.5 m tall at about 10 years (with a good spread),<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"1819\" data-end=\"1940\">\n<p data-start=\"1821\" data-end=\"1940\">other references indicate rather 2 to 3 m tall and wide in the long term (depending on training, graft, soil and climate).<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3 data-start=\"1942\" data-end=\"1956\">Exposure<\/h3>\n<p data-start=\"1958\" data-end=\"2169\">Bright partial shade or gentle sun. A sheltered position from drying winds limits leaf scorch on the fine foliage in summer.<\/p>\n<h3 data-start=\"2535\" data-end=\"2557\">Origin &amp; history<\/h3>\n<p data-start=\"2559\" data-end=\"2885\">\u2018Green Lace\u2019 is generally given as an introduction linked to the Fratelli Gilardelli nursery (Italy, Milan \/ Brianza area).<\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>\u2018Green Lace\u2019 is a green dissectum-type Japanese maple, valued for its very finely cut foliage and its naturally cascading, dome-shaped habit.
