The result is graphic without being stiff, with real interest from spring through autumn. Moderate vigour. The cultivar is often described as similar, in overall look, to certain compact Linearilobum types (sometimes compared to \u2018Red Pygmy\u2019 for the habit, with a difference in leaf colour).<\/p>\n<h3 data-start=\"1812\" data-end=\"1838\">Indicative size<\/h3>\n<p data-start=\"1840\" data-end=\"1896\">Observed orders of magnitude depending on sources and training:<\/p>\n<ul data-start=\"1898\" data-end=\"2041\">\n<li data-start=\"1898\" data-end=\"1938\">\n<p data-start=\"1900\" data-end=\"1938\">around 3 m \u00d7 2 m at about 10 years,<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"1939\" data-end=\"2041\">\n<p data-start=\"1941\" data-end=\"2041\">often given as around 3 to 3.5 m at maturity (with a spread that can reach 2 to 3 m).<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3 data-start=\"2043\" data-end=\"2057\">Exposure<\/h3>\n<p data-start=\"2059\" data-end=\"2283\">Bright partial shade or gentle sun. A sheltered position (dry winds, scorching sun) improves the performance of the fine foliage.<\/p>\n<h3 data-start=\"2565\" data-end=\"2587\">Origin &amp; history<\/h3>\n<p data-start=\"2589\" data-end=\"2895\">\u2018Villa Taranto\u2019 was propagated from a plant observed in the gardens of Villa Taranto, in Pallanza (Lake Maggiore, Italy). It was introduced and distributed in cultivation in 1967 by C. Esveld (Boskoop, The Netherlands).
