It works very well as an accent plant, especially when placed at eye level (terrace, pathway, border).<\/p>\n<h3 data-start=\"1235\" data-end=\"1247\">Colours<\/h3>\n<ul data-start=\"1249\" data-end=\"1526\">\n<li data-start=\"1249\" data-end=\"1351\">\n<p data-start=\"1251\" data-end=\"1351\"><strong>Spring<\/strong> : soft green with purplish-red \/ pinkish-red tips on young leaves.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"1352\" data-end=\"1443\">\n<p data-start=\"1354\" data-end=\"1443\"><strong>Summer<\/strong> : dark green (the tips may look browner depending on conditions).<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"1444\" data-end=\"1526\">\n<p data-start=\"1446\" data-end=\"1526\"><strong>Autumn<\/strong> : bright yellow to golden yellow, sometimes with warmer nuances.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3 data-start=\"1528\" data-end=\"1546\">Habit &amp; vigour<\/h3>\n<p data-start=\"1548\" data-end=\"1728\">Upright habit at first, then more bushy and well balanced with age. Moderate vigour: it establishes well in the ground while remaining manageable in a container with appropriate training.<\/p>\n<h3 data-start=\"1730\" data-end=\"1756\">Indicative size<\/h3>\n<p data-start=\"1758\" data-end=\"1814\">Observed orders of magnitude depending on sources and training:<\/p>\n<ul data-start=\"1816\" data-end=\"2087\">\n<li data-start=\"1816\" data-end=\"1871\">\n<p data-start=\"1818\" data-end=\"1871\">around 2.5 m at 10 years is often indicated,<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"1872\" data-end=\"1981\">\n<p data-start=\"1874\" data-end=\"1981\">some sources give about 3 m tall for ~1.8 m wide at 10 years,<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"1982\" data-end=\"2087\">\n<p data-start=\"1984\" data-end=\"2087\">at maturity, it is generally listed between 2 and 4 m (variable depending on climate, soil and pruning).<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3 data-start=\"2089\" data-end=\"2103\">Exposure<\/h3>\n<p data-start=\"2105\" data-end=\"2336\">Gentle sun \/ bright partial shade. In scorching full sun and dry wind, the foliage may scorch more easily (as with many palmatums).<\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>\u2018Tana\u2019 is a Japanese maple with very elegant green foliage, highlighted in spring by pretty purplish-red tips that create a fine, original contrast. In summer, the plant turns dark green, then in autumn it develops a particularly luminous bright yellow colour.
