Peve multicolor

Character & interest

‘Peve Multicolor’ is sought after for its “drawn leaf” effect: a pale background, strongly defined veins, and often a pink/white veil that gives an almost powdery look. It is also known for its unpredictable nature: some years the variegation is very strong and lasts a long time; other years the plant can be greener (while still keeping interest through edging/nuances).

Colours

• Spring : often cream to almost white, green veins, with a pink dusting (sometimes a purplish/red edge).

• Summer : foliage generally greener (often light green to chartreuse), with cream areas or residual nuances depending on exposure.

• Autumn : golden yellow to orange (sometimes more salmon-toned depending on conditions).

Habit & vigour

Upright habit, rather compact and natural. Moderate vigour.

Indicative size

Order of magnitude: often listed around 2 to 2.5 m ultimately in several catalogues, but some feedback suggests a larger potential in the ground (up to 4–5 m). In a container, growth remains more contained.

Exposure

Bright partial shade is recommended, or morning sun with protection during the hottest hours. Pale foliage can scorch in burning sun, and variegation can also vary with exposure.
