Peaches and cream

Character & interest

‘Peaches and Cream’ belongs to the “veined” maples: the contrast between a pale leaf blade and a green network of veins creates a very graphic foliage, almost “drawn”. Interest peaks in spring, when the peach tips and pink margins are most visible. It is a delicate display cultivar, perfect for a terrace, patio, or a sheltered spot.

Colours

• Spring : cream to creamy white, contrasting green veins, pinkish / rosy-red margins and tips (“peach” effect).

• Summer : the pink tones fade; foliage becomes greener, often still nuanced (marbling/variations).

• Autumn : yellow-orange, sometimes evolving towards orange or even reddish tones depending on conditions.

Habit & vigour

Upright and rather compact habit, often becoming more rounded with age. Growth generally moderate (sometimes described as slow), especially if kept in a container.

Indicative size

Order of magnitude: around 2 to 3 m ultimately in the ground (variable with soil, climate and training). In a pot, it stays more compact and is very well suited to long-term container growing.

Exposure

Bright partial shade recommended. The pale foliage appreciates protection from scorching sun (especially in the afternoon) and dry wind.
