Character & interest

This cultivar is part of the “linearilobum” maples: long leaves with very fine lobes, creating a light texture, different from classic dissectums. It’s a good choice for a restrained scene when you want a structural plant without a heavy mass of foliage.

Colours

• Spring : bright red (very pronounced strap-like effect).

• Début été : burgundy / purplish brown.

• Fin été : often a calmer greenish-purple (the red remains as a nuance).

• Autumn : bright red (often clear and strong).

Habit & vigour

Upright, vase-shaped habit. Steady to fairly vigorous for a linearilobum.

Indicative size

Order of magnitude:

• ~2 m / 10 years (according to some European references),

• but can reach 3–3.5 m / 10 years in favourable conditions.
  Ultimately, a small tree around 3–6 m depending on soil/climate and training.

Exposure

Best effect in gentle sun or bright partial shade (but tolerates full sun). The very fine lobes can mark in hot/windy situations; a sheltered position helps keep the foliage cleaner.
