Welcome to Pépinière du Renard, a small nursery located in Haute-Savoie, in the heart of the Aravis mountains (French Alps).
My name is Sébastien Gallay and I grow plants here with a simple idea: offering carefully selected plants, well grown, and described with precision. I’m passionate about plants, with a special fondness for Japanese maples (Acer palmatum and related species) — for their seasonal colours, their diversity of habits and foliage, and their ability to transform a garden or a terrace.
A small-scale nursery
Pépinière du Renard is deliberately a small-scale operation. This allows me to:
- closely monitor plant cultivation and quality,
- select interesting varieties, sometimes rarer ones,
- and remain available to answer questions before or after purchase.
A mountain growing environment
Being established in the mountains, in the Aravis range, naturally influences how the plants are grown: climate, temperature swings, and clearly marked seasons. This setting encourages attentive cultivation, and leads me to prioritise well-acclimated plants, with particular care given to vigour and preparation before shipping.
Clear advice, a transparent shop
Each product page is designed to be useful: exposure, habit, vigour, indicative size, and points to watch. The goal is for you to know what you’re buying and how to succeed—whether planting in the ground or growing in a container.
